The Santa Ynez Valley, the southern most part of California's Central Coast area, is characterized by Live Oaks trees scattered on grassy hillsides. And sunshine. It is easily accessed via a winding road from Santa Barbara through the mountains that wends it's way down to horse country and Vineyards.
Here are a few photos from our wine tasting excursion last weekend. We visited the Bridlewood Winery, which is gaining recognition for it's Syrah and Voignier wine blends. I should tell you that every thing I know about wine could be printed on the end of a pin. I wouldn't know an "oak finish" from a photo finish. I can tell you that it was a photographer's paradise. Bridlewood was originally built as a horse rehabilitation center and continues to be a working horse farm as well as vineyard. In fact, the movie Seabiscuit was filmed on the grounds. Here are a few photos to start. I'll share more in the coming days. And, cheers! ![]() ![]()

I've told you that I was born and raised in Sandiego Lindyanna; Live in Calif until I was 44 or so; Never made it to the wine country. Back then I was too busy drinking it to worry about how it was made. Oh well My loss, at least thanks to You; Now I can get a small glimps of it. Wonderful series of shots and very well presented.
Thanks for Sharing these Michael.

Wine and photography - better together than they are apart?
I've been to the wine country in more northern California, but these photos make me want to Central Coast area. It looks beautiful. Well done and well presented, as always, Lindy. |

Having just spent the afternoon trying to escape the oppressive heat we've been having (officially 102 yesterday at the Winder airport), we spent the afternoon in the pool where I consumed a little bit more of adult beverages than I might should have. Then we came home and I grilled supper, finishing off with a nice red from Spain, then saw your post. Such a beautiful place, it was like finishing off the day once more with a glass (or two). Thank you so much for sharing these and extending my weekend just a little bit farther and postponing, even if only for a few moments, the inevitable dawning of Monday morning and another work week.....Salud!

Linda: That's some beautiful stuff. I really like the second one. Nicely done. I hope you've seen the captures from my Guerneville trip -- also wine country but Sonoma County.
