Default Saker Falcon Staredown!

Yesterday I went with my family to the "Center for Birds of Prey" near Charleston, SC...If you have any interest in raptors, you should visit this place if you're nearby it's a great haven for over 110 birds of prey. This bird is the endangered Saker Falcon of the Middle East. She was a very willing performer and poser....I love how she's staring me down here.

Enjoy!

Yeah! That's a great photograph there! The eyes are very clear and engaging. You are so drawn into that stare that it is hard to back off and look at the rest of the bird. I say that Vin needs to come visit.

Thanks for the kind words! This particular falcon was most cooperative as she had half of a quail to eat just out of frame so it was a "win win" situation for both her & me! The secrect was to get her to look my way instead of burying her head in the quail!

Fantastic photograph, I like it when `things` don't wont to move away quickly, makes the job of taking their photo a bit more predictable. Amazing.

Thanks! Since this bird was all of about1.5 pounds, I was not too worried - but the way it took apart the quail it was eating gave new meaning to the term "determination!"
