Default Hot air balloons at night

Hot Air Balloon display at the Basin Reserve (cricket ground), Wellington, New Zealand.

Wellington is known as the windy city but on this night in April 2009 it was perfect. Balloons were there for display purposes only as they were too close to the airport to take off.

Thanks - I have been in one in Australia - very quiet whilst flying except for the noise of the burner from time to time. The pilot even showed us where the emergency exits were before lift off. Nearly decided to cancel our booking after that but went ahead - must have taken some photos - will try and find them. Cheers, Bernz

Nicely done. Excellent exposure and great timing to catch some blue in the sky.

Excellent Shot, well composed and the colors are beautiful. I've never been up in one of these, but I'd love to try it someday.
Thanks for sharing this

fire them up just for display?? what a bummer. My then 15 yr old daughter went on an early morning ride in a balloon over the Valley of the Kings in Egypt that she said was awesome! The night shot is great highlighting all of their color

Wonderful night shot, very colorful. We were at an event that was next to a hot air balloon event and we
got to watch them take off, it was a sight to see, this was years ago and I was out there with my
point and shoot. Thanks for sharing brought back fun memories.
