Went to a steam museum a few weeks ago and saw some wonderful machinery. This engine was used to run a large saw for cutting timber. It had no tractive power of its own but rather was dragged by horses to wherever it was needed to be used. The most noticeable thing was that it was almost completely silent when in operation. Only the noise of the large belt turning could be heard.
< ![]() Sorry about that hope this looks better

You should try this in sepia .. age it a lot and I bet it would look so cool!
Great shot but I don't care for the filter ...its a little bright on the eyes ... I do really like the shot however

I really do like the sepia tone. What is it about old equipment that is so appealing? I always find it fascinating. Perhaps life seems to move at such a fast pace these days that equipment like this serves to reminds us of a simpler place and time. The silence certainly speaks to the idea of a "well-oiled machine". I'm glad you shared this.

I thought the same thing while I was standing there watching it. It was truly amazing to see that great wheel spinning and hardly a sound eminating from that huge machine.
