Headed out today with my daughter and a friend for an end of the school year outing at their request. (I was asked because I am the only mom with a convertible that was available during the day) Seeing as how we were heading to the ocean I figured I could pretend to be Beach today.
This is part of our coast, which in NH is pretty small. I have never actually seen the waves this big or the rip tides so strong. This part of the beach was closed because of it. The life guards were quite serious. We went in half way up to our knees and had the whistles blown at us. In the background you can see the Isles of Shoals. ![]() With swimming out of the question we wandered around and came upon some amazing sand sculptures. We lucked out and there is a competition going on. This is one that when I saw it at first, thought there was a boat on the beach. ![]() I tried on and off all day to get a good gull shot, like the real Beach posted today. However, they must have thought I was Patrick instead of Beach, cuz all they did was fly by me with their arses to me. This guy was interested in my fruit, so I shot him. ![]() There was a really cute little girl near us who ran her mom ragged most of the day. After they packed up, I saw that they had left his little castle in tact. I thought it was a pretty good representation of the day at the beach. ![]() The first two pics (and especially the sand boat) are full of details that if you are so inclined to, check them out on Flickr. There are a couple more sand sculpture shots there also. I have more, but am to tired and sunburnt (despite using sb all day) to do anymore tonight !!

They are spending 7 hours a day for 3 or 4 days to get those sculptures done. It is so amazing to watch even a small part of the process. The amount of details in each of them is beyond astounding.
