Cool Turn 'n burn - horse action shots from this weekend

Spent the weekend at the horse show and came up with some action shots of the barrel racing and pole bending. The weather was perfect and times fast!

and my favorite because of her and her horse's expressions lol

While I just went for the fun of it (well, and the practise) the show photographer was quite rude. I had checked beforehand and the organizer had no issue with me being there as long as I didn't solicit (I had no intention to - and there were tons of P&S cameras there). The first day was fine; but on the second day after word got around about how the photos looked, I would pick out a sweet spot and as soon as I settled in the "professional" made a fuss and shot behind my shoulder or made it so uncomfortable I'd move. I guess it should be a compliment that they felt threatened but it did put a damper on the second day :\

hahahaha. The horse photographers think they have a niche on the market. i was once covering a gaming event for the paper arrived early to scope out vantage points. I set up for a few overall shots to be taken from the announcing stand. When the "Horse Photographer" arrived, she announced, "You're in my spot!" I told her that any pro knows that if they want a spot reserved that they should mark off the area in duc tape on the floor and put name and date. She was pretty rude as I refused to give her the spot until I felt like I got the pictures needed from that high angle location. I stayed there longer than usual just to piss her off

Most of those types are just hacks and are afraid of folks moving in on their business. My daughter used to western game, before she fell off and broke her shoulder in three places. I'd bring my laptop and download images and would always have a crowd around me. One, professional horse photographer didn't realize that she could point her camera in such a way to take vertical shots as all she was shooting was horizontal and if the client wanted a vertical shot out of it, she'd have to crop the horizontal take image into a vertical, therefore loosing space on each side of the subject. What a friggin dingbat!

Great Shots; Love the action and the 1st one is Fantastic; It would be a cold day! before I'd have moved for that Professional!!!!! I know they are trying to make a buck, but Like Jake says "It's nice to be nice and it's Free".
They have no right to be rude.
Thanks for Sharing These
Chewys Dad.

Thumbs up

I gave in mainly because more than a couple people noticed and I didn't want to be the one acting "less than professional". I had several friends riding and its a small association, I'm sure word will get around.

Besides, I ended up posting the photos on the association's facebook page and the compliments are more than enough satisfaction after Sunday's events lol.
