Default The Majesty, Beauty And Danger Of Nature...

Nature has many faces as we all know. Today, I would like to visit just a few.

The Yucca Plant blossom. These plants can grow anywhere and survive very harsh conditions, from drought to too much ran. This Yucca is across the river from the Keeper Of The Plains statue.

Yucca And The Keeper

Sometimes nature hides from us, or seems to do so. Then once in a while we look and there it is, all else just fades away, it's like falling in love again...

The Belle Of The Ball.

Some facets of nature can not be seen, but their effects can be seen. Where would we be without gravity and motion. Here we see both in action as the pendulum slowly swings from one side to the other and in a spiral. Slowly, it flips each marker in turn, keeping time.

Pendulum Pit

Occasionally here in Kansas, as in other areas around the globe, we see the good, bad and the ugly of nature, all in one. Thunder heads carry their own beauty. They light the darkness with electricity. They give our crops much needed rain and cool the day. They also throw violent tantrums, seemingly like those of an over grown child. These ginormous clouds with their terrific potential for wind, rain, hail and tornadoes. Bring quick and sometimes total destruction. Still, they fascinate us and are an awe inspiring sight...

Evening Thunder Head.

Get out there and enjoy nature, but beware... sometimes the sky does fall!

Thank you, I'm never sure which I like best, capturing and posting images, or writing the
commentary. Thanks again.

Great work Tom, like the first for its focus and DoF, the second for its selective colouring, nature meets physics = practical application in the thirs, and finally, my favourite from the set. Wonderful silouhettes against a stunning sky and clouds, great light and definition, good job

Nice set, Tom. Like all four, but I think the third is my favorite for its curves and symmetry

Thanks Mike. I knew that would be a special image if I could capture it just right.
