Default Keys to life

Today, I was charged with an experiment from a co-worker......During my lunch break, she wanted me to try out her Panasonic Lumix 7.2 megapixel point and shoot because she said that couldn't ever get a good sharp picture. The camera is a bit hard to get right on focusing especially in the macro/close up mode. Looked fine on the screen and blurred on my monitor, so it's a little tricky. As you will see in the following shots...good sharp focus is attainable but I was as frustrated as hell with this camera for its fickleness. I would hold a stem of grass out in front of me and it would go in and out and not get focus correct about 9 out of ten times. Regular shooting mode was fine but there was a delay between depressed shutter and capture which was annoying. Of couse, looking at the counter, she only took about 150 shots with the camera...hardly enough to figure out what it can do. I shot 150 frames at lunch of a variety of things just to see what it could do.....So these keys below are a product of some trial and error and they were shot on my kneecap while I was sitting in the car munching on some french fries. Light was the afternoon sun/clouds through my windshield.

They look pretty good Patrick. Nice and clear focused, good lighting. Great work.

I have no idea about this camera, but it sounds like its auto focus only and more of a, good quality always in the pocket type camera. Bearing that in mind I think the results of the experiement are four very acceptable pictures Patrick, and hopefully your friend will get the photo bug, get some handy hints and tips from you, and get herself onto DPS.

Beach, The thing that intrigued me was the fact that she felt that many of her shots were blurred and I got the camera with it in macro mode.....looking back through her memory card, it should not have been set here. But it is an ok camera and well it is a p&s. So it will have alot of fickleness like my Canon powershot. My Canon I feel is a bit more predictable and precise but that's probably because it has over 5000 shots logged on it.....a great many in purgatory never to return though. But that Canon took such high quality pics that I got hooked into photography and then my mom gave me a dslr and the rest is history...very short history....I guess that I have been shooting with purpose since last October when I got the Canon. I guess my job was to show this girl that the camera was capable of capturing some pretty detailed photos given certain situations and some tweaks here and there like exposure compensation to help. The keys were my best "macros" for color and texture.....well I have a few others that turned out pretty well after pitching a number of shots....perhaps I'll post tomorrow

Patrick, considering you used a P&S without a manual focus probably, I say those close up shots are very sharp and clear. Unfortunately your friend must be only patient when using the camera because of focus difficulty. Good work!
