Default Learning Haka (War Dance)

A friend let me come along to the Kapahaka (Maori Performing Arts) class he helps teach at a local high school. Conditions were challenging - students crammed into a big room lit by a mix of fluoro and daylight, dark walls... More of a learning exercise for me than a trophy shoot, but thought I'd share something of the young performers. I love the intensity of the haka, and B&W conversion seemed to help.

Kapahaka 2

Kapahaka3

At the back of the room, I found something cool by experimenting with the shadows and capturing some horseplay.

Violence begets violence

Thanks for looking

It looks like great fun. Usually when my tongue's hanging out like that, I wouldn't want my pic taken. Nice work!

I love the Haka!

Great seeing the kids practicing this. Hope they keep the tradition alive.
