Default I was so excited

I was so excited when I took my camera out of the box, and after I charged the battery, I gave my son the first umbrella I saw and took him outside.

IMG_2566 copy

What I did not pay attn to was that the umbrella had such contrasting lines and check out the ISO! It was taken on a bright cloudy day!!!And I did not shoot in RAW. Ever since I was convinced to do so on this forum, I have never gone back - till now. Its now in RAW, just how I like it.

But given everything, I like it!

Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 45 mm
ISO Speed: 1250
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Here is another one I took at the pool yesterday - blew out the background (big time) on purpose and did a simple levels adjustment - that was the only PPing...

Wow! That is amazing. ISO 1250. Love the first shot. It's very interesting, especially witht the interlinking lines of the umbrella. Good job Pat.

Those are both great shots. I love the umbrella as a prop. I have some shots I want to get of my daughter in the pool, but as usual I have to bribe her to model

Congradulations on the New 50D, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Great 1st shots and It is fantastice to be able to use High ISO's especially with the High ISO noise reduction capabilities these babys have.
I'm saving up for the 5D mark II, actually hopeing Canon will come out with an upgrade to it before I get the money.
Thanks for Sharing These
Chewys Dad.

I wish I had the patience to wait for the 5D, I did find a retailer that I LOVE, they are local to VA and they were cheaper than BH and Adorama, I found them through Jim Poor another member on this forum.

" Your gonna shoot your eye out kid !! "

WHOO HOO !! well Pat, you certainly deserve your new camera body on passion for photography alone .. it is such a huge step up aparently, I set my 450d on iso800 and it's a snowstorm lol .. I like both of your first photos and the quality of them is excellent even at the extremes you were testing at, I'm happy for you and can't wait to see you really working that thing !!

Pat, I'm not USUALLY a fan of blown out backgrounds.....

Unless it's done this well. Chris is perfectly exposed and the background serves the pics so well!

You are GOOOOOOOOD, woman! And I see the new toy is only adding to your talent. Great, beautiful work. I'm proud to call you my friend and fellow photographer.
