Default A yellow jacket snoozing in a sea of yellow

I went outside in my yard to take a look at my blooming asiatic lilies and noticed this yellow jacket bee just perched deep in the yellow lily and I tried to get as close as I could without disturbing it and it appeared to be quite content to stay in one place so it was difficult if not impossible to get a full body shot of the bee so its face will have to suffice.

This was a stamen view of one of the asiatics before going "inside after the bee"

This gives a view of where the bee was in the lily

Well you've done a great job of catching one napping, the shots are very well done. Every time I get anywhere near one of these I end up being stung, OUCH, therefore I will leave these shots to you, lol.

Oh my goodness, that is one shot I may never have the nerve to get. Very awesome focus, so crisp and clear on his face. Makes me back up! Looks like he is coming to get you with each shot he is closer and closer. Great work, better you then me!

Nice group of photos, Patrick! These are the photos that are so fun to see come up on your computer screen and realize you did good. Weren't you pleased when you saw the crisp detail? Just terrific.

I love the contrast of the blue and yellow in the first one Patrick. The bee shots are brilliant and the detail is amazing. Just looks like he is climbing out of yellow water as your title suggests. Great work buddy. I love them all.

Jake.

Nice to have a cooperative yellow jacket as a subject. Excellent series of shots!

Cool shots! The last one is my favorite...looks like he is "hatching" from his yellow egg.
