Default The First Time I Saw Paris

Paris is a place I have dreamed about visiting since I was a teenager studying French in high school. The dream continued through college, while raising a family and life, in general, never to be fulfilled - until last month. I had a rather significant birthday last year and for my gift one of my sisters announced that she and her partner were taking me to Paris! What a gift! Truly a loving family is the real gift! But, oh la la, Paris!

eiffel tower

Our first night in Paris - how could we be there without seeing this engineering marvel and symbol of this great city on Day 1? My first glimpse of it was so moving, I began to cry. Once I dried my tears, I began to shoot!

winding montmartre street

A winding street in Montmartre. We had an apartment nearby.

sculpture room at the Louvre

At the Louvre - As I ascended the staircase toward Winged Victory I happened to look to the side, over the bannister, and there was this wonderful room full of sculptures. Whether they were being stored or restored, I do not know.

Chartres

We spent part of Day 2 out of the city - in a 12th century village called Chartres. This vilage is where the first beheadings of the French Revolution took place.

Paris was everything I expected - and more. It is the most civilized city I've ever been in. I'll never be able to enjoy American coffee, bread and croissants again!

Default Je t'aime, Paris!

I'm a big Paris fan myself, I've never been there, though, sadly. I have cousins over there right now who continually send pictures and they're making me jealous!

They posted some on facebook, but they weren't anything quite like yours (and one of them photographed my wedding so I know she knows what she's doing with the camera).

That first picture just blows me away!! AMAZING shot!!

Feel free to upload more, you have a fan in me!!

If your family decides to adopt Angeleyes and are willing to send her to Paris, please tell them that we were twins separated at birth (and several years apart) and are now inseparable! Your first photo is one of the best shots of the Eiffel Tower I have ever seen. BW is a great choice, too. These are wonderful photos and will look forward to seeing others. Happy birthday!

That last one was me having some fun in elements.

Thanks all for your comments - I'm having almost as much fun processing these trip photos as I had taking them!

Thanks for posting these photos of Paris. I will be in Europe for the month of July and now will be adding Paris to the agenda. Can't wait. Beautiful photos.
