The sun was rising in the East and the storm clouds seemed to be gathering in the west. I was out by our local reservoir, the Hetch Hetchy for the the first two shots. The third is something I see driving on the freeway every day. I finally got out early in the morning to get a good shot of the rock outcropping and tree. Landscapes are not my forte, just playing a bit.

I really need to move. Those photos are breathtaking, I love the morning fog in the last one.

Rusty, these are great. You should post these in the California Photographer's social group here on DPS. The last one is especially good.

Pat: I'm not much of an early riser but I know I have to change if I'm going to get captures during that "golden hour." We see the fog roll over those hills a lot in these parts. It's an awesome sight at times.
Fred: Didn't know there was such a social group on DPS. I'll have to check it out. And that last one has haunted me for months. Like I said, I drive by it every day and have been intrigued by the rock outcropping and the lone tree. I think I could have composed it a bit better. But I'm happy with the colors. Karthick: Thanks for the kind words. I'm more of a portrait and still life kind of guy and haven't dabbled much in landscapes. Personally, I'm most happy with the first one and the third one. I think I overdid the crop on the second. BTW, the reservoir is about 25 miles south of San Francisco and is the main drinking water source for SF and the Peninsula cities. It lies along a freeway (makes me wonder what vehicle pollutants settle into the water). It's quite a lake.

This is a nice set Rusty. Love them all but the second one is my favourite. Iike the way the water takes your eyes right the way round the view. And the last one, I like the way the clouds are rolling over the hill. Nice work Rusty.
Jake.

Thanks Jake. That's kind of what I wanted to do with the crop but I was afraid I might have overdone it.
Ty: I think the colors were because of that very early morning sun. I shot this about 6 a.m. and the sun had barely creapt above the horizon. I'm thinking about cropping out more of the foreground in shot #3. I kinda like the shot but don't feel captured by it.
