Cool It`s Sunday + It`s another Abbey

Dundrennan Abbey 1

Dundrennan Abbey 2

This is Dundrennan Abbey near Kirkcudbright. This was the last place Mary Queen of Scots stayed before leaving Scotland and into captivity in England and eventual execution

Beautiful captures...great work in bringing out the textures of the stone against the surrounding greenery.

billmac57, these are delightful shots. Alas that America has no stately, slowly eroding abbeys like this, or I would be out shooting them constantly. I envy Europe's glut of old buildings and landscapes.

Thank you, I think it`s a case of the ``grass is greener`` From the pictures that I have seen of America on DPS, I would love to be there taking pictures. From skyscrapers to the desert,it is so varied. Maybe one day.

Stunning pictures billmac. I noticed the skies weren't so blue this Sunday. Still you managed to get the images so crisp and clear. Lovely work.

The detail in these captures is amazing Bill. You really bring out the textures in the stonework. I have actually visited this Abbey a few years ago when on holiday touring the South West corner of Scotland and my son in law is from Dumfries which is fairly close to Kirkudbright. This is a really lovely part of the world. Great work Bill.

Jake.

Hi Jake, lots of photo opportunities in this area, now if your son in law could tell me how to get in and out of Dumfries without getting lost, I would be obliged.

Thank you, with the amount of rain we get the grass has got to be green.
