Default My first butterfly shots!

We went to the insect zoo today and I got a ton of macro shots as I have been practicing on macro for a few weeks. I must have spent an hour in the butterfly room alone LOL I have over a 100 shots of butterflies to go through LOL I wasn't *spraying* but there were so many different types it was fun to practice macro!
So here are the first 4:

On the next shot I overexposed some of the flowers. Please let me know a way to fix them if you have any ideas!

This next guy's body was so white ~ it was really hard not to over expose it or under expose the wings. I had a tough time! I was hoping this would be THE SHOT of the day but it didn't turn out as good as I wanted it too.

They look better in their original sizes as you can see all of the texture in their wings! I have them on my flickr account if you want to blow them up LOL

Those are very beautiful. My personal favorite is the second one. It blends in so well with the pink flowers. Great macros.

Wow! Those are really some unusual butterflys. Great shots of them too. We have one of those places here in Orlando and I have been wanting to get over there to check it out but have been putting it off. After seeing yours I think I am going to make more of an effort to go now. Thanks for sharing your shots.

Thanks everyone! Butterfly places make such great practice macro work outs! As I said, I stayed in the room for an hour just finding different subjects and trying to get settings down. They could have been any kind of bug ~ practice is practice but its a lot more fun having something as pretty as butterflies (and your choice of colors and sizes)

I highly suggest if you have one nearby to go one weekend and give your macro a work out

You must have a very patient family! My hubby would of left me after about 10 minutes! lol. Great shots! I love the one with green wings. Never seen one like that before! Are the butterflies just flying around with you or are they contained in something? I think we have a butterfly house in St. Louis but I've never been. Might have to go check it out now. Minus the hubs. LOL.
