This was the best shot i took the whole day when i was trying some product photography.

well I think you've done a great job on this...
just my 2 cents... why not try another angle which can reaveal the lens body instead of having a look only at the minimum part of it... once again just my 2 cents...

I did try taking a few pics of the side of the lens, but those didn't come out as well
(it was sunset and there was'nt much light coming into my bedroom).
