Wink Zoo! (not to be confused with Boo!)

I haven't been making the time to post too much lately - photos or comments - but I just want to say that I have been looking and admiring so many of the new and veteran members' work. Very inspiring, and I always find something throughout my work day that makes me smile. Such a creative and good humored group here at DPS and I appreciate all you so much!

Just wanted to share a few from my recent St. Louis Zoo trip. Nothing special, mostly typical shots, but nevertheless, I hope you enjoy.

Mama and Baby Camel
Camels just look pitiful when they lose their winter coats. Still, this is so sweet.

Cheesy Grin
Got some pretty decent shots through the glass; loved his (her?) expression in this one.

Pacing
I don't know if he was hot, hungry or just showing off, but this leopard paced back and forth for a good ten minutes while we were standing there. (psst...looks better large)

Big Hippo, Big Teeth
Despite their size, they sure are active!

The hippos were a big hit that day! We love that exhibit!

Thanks for looking!!

That second one is great, the hippo (it's a hippo, right?) looks surprised. Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow! These are great shots. The first two are awesome! Love the camels and the look on the hippo's face. Very clear too ...especially through glass!

I also went to the St. Louis Zoo about 3 weeks ago. I love the zoo. You have some wonderful shots. Will post few of mine another time. Hadn't been able to post or view as I had some computer problems. Enjoy being able to see everyone's pics again.

Your first photo of the camels with their mane askew and falling in their eyes brings back back many a memory of the "get your bangs out of your eyes" comments I used to receive from mom when I was a teen. Makes me laugh. Change of subject. Is everything getting back to normal in your neck of the words? That was quite a storm. It is nice to see you here again.

Haha! Thanks! Yes, it is, indeed, a hippo. They look twice their size under water!

Thank you, J. Appreciate your comments. And if you only knew how dirty that glass was!

Thanks, kathylee! We love it too! My two year old can't get enough hippos and elephants! Would love to see your shots as well. Glad your computer is back up and running again. I know how frustrating that is!!

LOL! I can relate to the long bangs comments...at least until the 80's hit and I found hairspray! hehe. And yes, things are getting back to normal around here for the most part. Thanks so much for asking. {hugs} There are still many broken and uprooted trees that need to be cleared but I think it's just going to take some time for the local governments to get to them all, as it will for people to get their homes fixed from the damage. No shortage of construction/contractor needs around here.

A great selection of pictures to start the weekend Sandee, and what a wonderful location with so much opportunity and access to these magnificant creatures.
There isn't one I favour but I was taken with the camels because their coats reminded me of coat I had as a student, excellent post
