Default Shadow Boxing

We have a new visitor to our bedroom window .. It'll perched on the branch for a few seconds - then fly to the window and without warning, it goes bananas and attack its own shadow .. it's comedic at times but its gotta hurt its beak .. after watching this behavior for a couple of days, today I was ready with the camera - don't mind the dirty window

How funny! Great to see that quirkiness isn't exclusive just to people. I feel much better now. Thanks for sharing.

I have heard of this behavior before. Some researchers believe the male birds see their reflections in the offending window and mistake it for a rival for the affections of another.
On the other hand, some researchers speculate that birds are much more highly developed than previously thought. They go on to theorize that these birds go through these antics and
dances for just one reason... They want their picture taken. Great series Hayward, thanks for sharing!
