Default the early bird gets the worm

The eyesight of a bird amazes me. this guy was on a telephone wire about 150 feet from the point of attack ...

he sees his prey and launches the attack.....

launch

checks to the left.......

land

checks to the right.....

check

no ones looking....good..........time for lunch

breakfast

I'm lucky if I can read what's on my computer screen.....lol

Those are really great. I keep trying to get the robins on my lawn but they don't let me get close enough.

Great job!

You have to admit that the bird was smart enough to be as patient as you were to get what you were both after.

thanks for the comments, patience had nothing to do with it for me..it was more like lazyness...I was just sittin' in the shade, shirking my other responsibilities, playing with my camera when he came along to amuse me.....( I don't think the worm feels the same way )

How cool is that! I love the two photos in the middle of the story--the looking around in that guarded way birds do, almost like naughty children up to something. What a fun set of photos.

A great sequence mfreg - the first one in particular - you've caught the moment before she (?) launches into flight perfectly. Yes I imagine the worm was not best pleased....
