Default Blue, with Some Peeling Paint

Is it just me, or can the darker side on the left be seen as either closer to the camera or further away from the camera, as compared to the main flat surface on the right?

Thanks for looking.

Color tricking the eye. I love that! I also like the contrast in texture between the shine reflected off the metal compared to the stucco/wood texture of the rest photo. It's very subtle but nice. You photo does what any good photo does, that is, it gently moves your eye around the "canvas" in a very appealing way. Score!

Lindy - You have the ability to put into words things that I can only - and at best - feel. Many thanks for all your descriptive responses and posts.
