Default More Chicks

Blue Tipped Teal family ... I could have screamed .. this one shot took about 20 minutes.. the Chicks moving off in all directions, mom and dad apparently not speaking to eachother and it's the middle of dinnertime, but I wanted to show what the ducklings will grow up into.

IMG_3818
none of them would follow my directions during the family portrait, see what happens if the photographer does not maintain control !! lol

Ok, Here's a few Ducklings

Duckies

Duckling

had a choice of two to close it out .. Osprey or Swan shot .. I liked this one more.. they are getting so big and really becomming good swimmers

Fuzzy Formation

this was a little better then the osprey shot I had in mind.

hope you liked em

Vin

They look so soft and cuddly. Nice shots vin, I really like the last one but they are all very well done.

Wow, I love the colors on that first one! What did you do there? Is that an HDR? All of the different birds seem to be very colorful in a way that doesn't cause them to blend in with the background. So often duck pictures look dull because of the water. This one is different.

The 2nd one is fantastic. The subjects in focus were interesting enough in addition to the colors of their immediate environment.

Nice set vin. If shooting wildlife was easy, anyone could do it.

I really like the last two. The close up of the duckling is nice and sharp w/ great lighting. The swan shot has really nice reflections in the water and is well composed. Great job, keep up the good work.

I'm glad you liked them Chewys, I'm not sure who are cuter, baby geese, swans or ducks.. but they all make good subjects when they cooperate lol

Thanks very much Alpha for noticing my Post Prod. I have been working on getting more from my intial images and not over-processing.For that shot I basically lowered overall brightness, increased the highlights and shadows to about 30% more, then adjusted contrast to show details... last readjust exposure to bring everything back ... it's alot like what HDR does, but I'm using one photo and doing it manually.

I'm happy you mentioned the look, it was pretty worthless as it was out of the camera ( still not a great composition ) but I kinda saved it and it served a good purpose of showing mommy and daddy. thanks much !

Thanks Rick, I have been experimenting with a few different looks to my photos, one of things I like with the softness of the babies downy feathers is to soften the whole image and then bring back details and sharpenss on just some parts, for some photos I like the way it comes out,, thanks for noticing , glad you like it !

Thanks Jack, I wasn't sure how that sunspot was gonna work.. but it's not too much of a distraction... I'm glad you like them

Thanks Prime, I've been trying to increase PP skills, getting the clean "species" profile and action shots can take so long ( as you well know ), so taking what I got and working with them, glad you like them, I enjoy your shots of birds very much and your encouragment goes a long way.

Thanks everyone, Since I mentioned a Osprey shot, figured I would add it

Long range, one of the parents comming in to land... no fish to feed the babies ( still hunting for that shot ) but I think it looks pretty good,

Osprey landing

A magnificent sellection of high quality pictures Vin, you've had a great session by the look of it mate, a camera full of treasures, and smelling strongly of pond, not bad, not too bad at all.
