Default First Macro Shots...

I recently got a +4 Close-Up filter to try out some macro work - I'd love a Nikon 105mm Micro, but can't quite justify the £700 it'd cost me, hence the poor-man's macro solution. The first shots were OK but nothing like the ones I've seen here and on Flickr. Best of the first attempts (butterfly feeding) below:

Then it dawned on me that I needed more light (despite these being taken outdoors in bright sunlight), so I mounted an off-camera flash on a mono-pod and used the wireless mode on my camera. Best of the 2nd batch below...

The flash made all the difference in the world I think - I hope you agree. Trouble is I think I'm abit hooked now - that 105mm beckons, and the credit card is quivering as we speak...

Thanks for looking.

Martin.

Well despite you not having the equipment that you would like, I think your photos are great!

Thanks rawHulk. The 105 sounds like a great lens (but your comments are just making my c.card all the more nervous ).
