Default Let's Hear it for the Birds

( Sorry.. was watching Footloose earlier and have that song stuck in my head )

Anyway, the 70 - 300mm FINALLY got here today, so I had to take it out for a test run. I went to a little pond that is filled with cat-n-nine tails hoping to get a good shot of one of these guys:

bird two
However, none of my shots came out very good. I just like this one cuz his tail was mimic-ing that of the branches (yes, I do know what he was doing)

I kept hearing this horrendous noise coming from a little tree in front of me. When I took a few steps forward I saw this
bird four

I dont know if he can fly yet or not. I was noticing that he still has a bit of his baby fuzz on him
bird one

The whole time I was there I had one bird that kept buzzing me and squawking like crazy at me. I finally saw why
bird three

All in all not so bad for a few minute side trip. The lens is OK, it wasn't expensive so I didn't expect a whole lot from it. It has a hard time focusing, so most of the time I just did it myself. Which I need to practice up on. I really want a good shot of one of the adults

Congrats on the new les Sue. I'd say your little minute side trip was a great success.

lovely selection Susan, and I think the the second one gets my primary vote, if only because of the look of distain on his face, they are all excellent and well done on acquiring the 70 - 300, a great peice of kit

Congrats on the new lens, I am sure you will have fun with it. I like them all, but number three gives me the feeling the bird is showing some attitude over you taking his pic.and that a good thing!

Hiyas Sue ! ... grads on the new lense !!, Sigma , Tameron, Nikon , Canon.. ?? inquiring minds want to know ! Very cool first set with it !! Little buggers move so fast, very hard to get good ones, I love the second one, great details and a little drama with him half hidden ..

Can't wait to see more long-reach shots with that new glass ! manual focus on them is a challange and I'm sure you'll conquer it np

Thanks Patrick. I was so surprised when I saw them in the nest. Is the first time I've seen that

Hey Vin !! It is a Sigma lens. Nothing major but thought it would be good to have in the arsenal. I am going to get a good shot of one of the adults before this summer is over. I have a mission !
