Default Missed weekly assignment :(

I missed the deadline for the ghetto lighting assignment. For some strange reason I sometimes think GMT is Mountain Time not Greenwich. I wanted to share what I took though because I think that it turned out pretty decent. I used one LED flashlight, hand holding it behind the flower and to the right out of frame. I sprayed some water mist onto the flower to give it some more texture, and I turned off all the lights. Let me know what you think my chances would have been in the assignment.

I wouldn't have shortlisted it. Vivid colours against a black background catch the eye but the largest part of the flower is out of focus. That would be enough for me to move onto the next shot - there are normally so many entries that the first impression has to be very strong.

Wulf

ps. Why not aim to get your next shot in a couple of days early? That way pesky time zone calculations don't even enter the equation!

pps. ... and, no, I'm not offering a general "would I shortlist this" service, even for contests that are now closed. I just happened to be passing

Thanks Wulf. I took quite a few shots, there were 2 that while initially downloading caught my eye. This one which had very vivid colors with a soft focus on most of it and another one that was sharp on most of the flower (enough to see the water droplets on the far petal) but it wasn't as vivid and to me it almost looked plain (compared to this one), like shots that I have seen of different flowers hundreds of times. That's why I chose this one.

I have to just find a subject for the next assignment and I'l be all over it.
