Tamils protesters in Stuttgart for the Tamil Tigers

s some of you know by now, i love photowalking and street photography.
Here's a picture i took some days ago in Stuttgart (Germany).

Tamils protesters in Stuttgart for the Tamil Tigers after the 09-05-09 attack in Sri Lanka.

"The attack took place late Saturday and early today when artillery shells were reportedly lobbed into a densely packed area of northern Sri Lanka, resulting in at least 378 civilian deaths, according to the rebels."

Drax,

Sorry this got passed by. Very dramatic shot, well done. Too bad human beings don't settle disputes in less costly ways.

Hi, Jim (If i may)!

Well, i had thought that either people were too shocked to respond or there is more love for nice an beautiful picture that illustrate peace and joy.

In any case, i also think that it is our duty as fellow human being to shout out against injustice, unfairness, corruption and ... name them.

I send this very picture and some of that very action to a local news paper and two of them (this one and another one) were published. I turn down the payment i was supposed to receive for them. That was just my one cent against genocide.

BTW, thanks for your appreciation and comment.

Drax,

Impossible to know how photos are really chosen for comment by others, but you may have a point about the reluctance to leave the kitten/pretty flower/baby world behind (and I am reluctant, too!). Even when a highly-charged subject is photographed, though, there are still qualities in the image that can stand on their own. I appreciate those qualities here and while I'm perhaps the least political person here, I appreciate your taking a stand. Might be a good post in "People Photography" too.

Well, guys, thank you for sharing your opinions and points of view. But It was from my thinking to start a political debate.

I am emphasizing on the people who were killed in one night. They were civilians. Let two warriors fight and kill themselves; They choose to do so. But that in order to win a war, a village or city full of innocents have to be terminated, IMO, it is unbearrable. No matter who is wrong or right. And that's genocide. I stand against it.

Now, i am sorry that we went a tad out of what gathers us here at DPS: Photography.
