Default First Try at Portraits

One of my wife's co-workers asked us to photograph their kids this weekend. It was our first attempt at portraiture, if you can call it that. The first is one of my favorite shots. They wanted a couple of the pictures in both black and white and color. The next two are my attempts at that. I took the last picture as we were leaving the park. After playing with it in Photoshop, it ended up like this. I don't think I could duplicate it, but I do like the way it turned out.

Thanks for looking!

I really like the first one, the colors are so vibrant. And yor selective coloring is pretty great too. I really like them all, but the one of the little boy and his hat is great, he looks lost, like something is in his hat that doesn't belong. Not a big fan of tractors, but this one works. It looks old and used. But really stands out....which I know is what you wanted. I like it. Great job, will be on the look out for more of your work! Happy snapping! Ri

Great shots! The first one is priceless, and the selective coloring on the second gives it a lot of extra oomph. I really like the almost pastel-y colors going on with the tractor.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

@djb - Funny you said that, a couple of other people also said that. I think one of them mentioned HP.

@Rian - I'm not a fan of tractors either. I've never thought that they would make good subjects. I guess I lucked out with that one.
