Default Purple by Nature

I went for a walk last week in the Botanic Gardens and decided to play with using my 50mm reversed on my 105mm macro. The first and third were shot with the lens reversed (I held it on with 2 rubber bands ), the second was just shot with the macro.

you are very good at exploring this technique .. is the 3rd image a reverse of the flower on the second photo? .. very impressive

Thanks Hayward All 3 are different flowers. If I recall right, the first flower is actually a bud of a small purple daisy-like flower. The second is a clover, and the third is some sort of flower on what I think was a type of evergreen bush.

It was a technique that I read about on the DPS Blog at some point (still trying to find the article with no luck). But basically it lets you get even closer magnification so that instead of getting 1:1 magnification you can go higher. Which is why some of these flowers in reality are about the size of a fingernail.

In my case, I had the 105mm macro lens mounted on the camera with the lens hood on, then I took the 50mm lens and placed it front to front against the macro lens and used 2 rubber bands to hold it on there. Not necessarily ideal, but it is a cheap and easy solution for playing with reversed lenses

Nicole, Wow! The sharp detail and vibrant color are eye-popping glorious. I was thinking you must possess magical powers until I read about the rubber bands. Of course, they could be mytical rubber bands. All said because these are really out of this world.

Thanks indeed Lindy And anything that can help out with photos that costs only pennies to open a whole new world of subjects is mystical
