Default " In The Depths Of Night "

This shot was taken about 10 minutes ago. Yes, at 3:20 am here. I am in town for the weekend and pulling an "all-nighter".
Only a crop and minor saturation decrease. No Fill-Light increse/shadow/highlight tampering! This full eight-second exposure was a bit much to sit through. Good thing I brought the pod. LOL. Kind of unusual, but this really tested my technique, as this kind of long exposure is NOT what I am used to at all.

That is the moon creeping through the trees.
I thought it was pretty cool.

Thanks alot Ryan!

I just really just became interested in photography a few months ago, and have quickly fallen in love with the artistic aspects of capturing and "tweaking" photos.

I really just got lucky I guess. The flash was washing out the grass (which was very wet). So, I went with the longest exposure I honestly have ever really used. I know, I know, nothing compared to some of the old view camera exposure times (some 3-5 minutes!), but it was a bit different from what I am used to.

It came out bright enough to tell what the scene is, and dark enough to still convey the feeling of nightime and seem a bit "mysterious", so I guess I am happy with it. LOL.

Thanks for the kind words!

Take Care,
-John Mendrola.

Very cool... believe it or not I'm at work. On my break I'm trying to find a nice night shot around here. Dunno if I'll find anything though. Great job, I love the low light and you did a great job on this.

You mentioned "the old days" with the long film exposures... This is a large format photo (4x5 sheet film) I took about 5 months ago. It took 14 MINUTES! It was taken through an open window in to a room that had almost no light...just a bit coming through the window on the right. Long exposures work!

Love your shot, by the way! The greens really pop with the darker tones. Great!
