Default Brown Bear at Whipsnade

Hi,
After looking for a new Canon 300mm F4 IS and not being able to find a reasonably priced one, decided to dig out my 170-500 Sigma.

Here's a handheld shot at 250mm, ISO 400, f8, 1/640 on my EOS 1D Mk II.

To me it looks ok just wondered what others thought?

Hello Alistair and welcome to DPS forums. That is one cute capture, looks like he just can't be bothered and will just fall asleep where he is. Thanks for sharing this lovely moment with us. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Have fun.

Jake.

I think it looks better than ok. It is good shot. I like the feeling the bear gives off. You spend time looking at him trying to figure him out. It is a little bright, but not too much. I like it.

Nice job and welcome to DPS! That is an excellent shot... well composed and clear, especially hand held at that distance. Looking forward to more.

I think it's a great shot. Personally, I would tweak the color just a bit though -- on my screen it appears to have just a tad too much yellow in the image. That's okay on the bear and log, but it makes the plants look a bit odd. In Camera Raw, I reduced the tempature by -10 and the tint by -5 which to my eye gave it a more natural appearance.

I like it a lot.. Looks as the bear has a belly full of termites and is ready to have a nap. Something I can relate to. Thanks for sharing.
