Default A Pleasant Surprise.

Took two or three swan pics yesterday in quite bright sunshine which blew the whites a bit. The shots were pretty so-so, but last night I decided to experiment. I sharpened it and darkened everything to see how much detail it was possible to get back. Things were improving, then I increased the contrast and this was the result.

Oh how lovely! Wonderfully presented, artfully pp'd. A true wall hanging if I ever saw one

Definitely like your 'after' one better - what a nice picture!

It's beautiful. I'd be quite proud of that one.

Nice one, Dodge. I'd be proud of the original, but the pp'd version is 1000% better. If I may offer an opinion somewhere outside the critique forums... maybe I'd try taking the colour out of the reflection, so that the only colour anywhere is the swan itself - just a thought - it may not work. I think I'd also try and get rid of those diagonal line reflections right at the bottom (caused by that departing swan that you cropped out).

But anyway you look at it - it's still a nice shot.
