Default Nice day. New cam. Let's hit the road!

Well I pencilled in today and tomorrow for taking my first outdoor DSLR pics. 180 shots later and here are four of my favorites so far. In the past I have taken pics of buildings and such so I really wanted to have a go at bagging me some wildlife. Talk about lucky, first stop I clocked a heron who was happy to pose for me until I was done. Alas I couldn't get down to his level and had to make do with dangling off a bridge.
An hour later I decided to move on before the residents of Warkworth called to police to report a jumper on the bridge.

Pic 1 Harry the Heron (did some pp to darken the water so he stood out a bit better and sharpened him and toned down his white parts a bit. Cropped to make me happy and Harry bigger.).

Any critique, suggestions and feedback is greatly appreciated. All shots were with Sony a350 with Sony AF DT 55-200mm F4-5.6 lens. Thanks guys for looking. I had a great fun day.

Hi Dodge
Four absolutely awesome shots. They are all perfectly exposed. The composition of the first shot is spot on. The shot just shouts quality. Your flower shots too are just superb. Top marks for this set. Very well done

Thank you both so much.

It's really very early days for me, so to be told that I am getting things right, especially technically means a lot to me and is very much appreciated. My aim is to be able to produce consistently good quality pictures and recognise the good from the bad (theres plenty of those on the disk), before I start trying to be creative. Learn to walk before I can run kinda thing if that makes sense ?

Nice pictures and great that you found a cooperative heron. All of us have piles of discards, so keep on shooting....and learning! Well done on these.
