Nice image, feels like a solitude pic, with no other people or instruments in the pic. You should try the pic with just a little more light outlining the person.

I agree with "kstraw2" in that the shot could use some more light. There is such a great part of the photo that's simply black, that it's no longer a photo of someone drumming but a photo of some cymbals with some distraction around it. By adding a small light from camera bottom right you might have a more interesting photo.

A blurred symbol would be cool as well. I like the position of the drummer.
