Default Surf City

Many of you made a connection with music the Surfer Era from my previous post. I thought I'd add a coke and some fries to go with those memories. And the song that come to mind for you is....?

Bonus Quiz:

(1) What are Huarachues?
(2) Cowabunga said originally by....?
(3) Sandra Dee or Sally Field?

Surf City

Ahhhh Lindy! Great nostalgia. Remember when you could look on the bottom of the GLASS coke bottles to find the one with the city farthest away? How many times did I play that game while drinking a 6 oz coke that cost a nickel!

reference is to her Gidget

What a great set. Let's all go back in time and I still keep singing the surfing song. You have done an excellet job getting these captures to look like the 50's / 60's Ah the memories.
Teedlepeep didn't get #1 So Mexican sandals or a popular Mexican dish but I think you refer to the sandals. Thank you for this lovely presentation Lindy.

Jake.

When I saw these guys coming with their surf boards, I had just a sec or two to get a shot. I felt pretty fortunate. I'm glad you like them!

"Wouldn't it be nice if we were we younger?" I know. A little play on words. Coke magic was fun, wasn't it? I'm enjoying listening to the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean. Pretty simple chords, lyrics and had "a good beat and you can dance to it". Do you remember that line? American Bandstand. Every week DClark had kids review a new tune. This was the typical reply. BTW Here's that San Diego tree I was telling you about.

Have you heard Disney Girls by Art Garfunkel? It's so...Golly, gosh, gee. And I have have some bad news. I don't think there's a cure for a "beachy, surfer music kick". Might as well have another coke.

Every flippin thing? Yikes. Glad to offer surfer aide. According to Wikipedia, "cowabunga" was first said by Chief on Howdy Doody and later taken up by surfers. It's such a useful word in certain instances. Huaraches: see below. Gidget. Yes. But honestly, a Flying Nun? Who on earth sold THAT premise?

And the winner is Jake! Did you wear Huaraches? Do you remember that the soles were made of recycled tires? "And we'll have fun, fun, fun...."

Beach. Where's your reverence for Huararches? These were serious sandals.

You guys must not tempt the surfer gods lest you have a wipe out!

The fries and jukebox photos were taken at Johnny Rockets. It's a national chain of hamburger joints. They were very kind to allow me to take photos. The coke was from a previous nostalgic still life. I'm glad you think it succeeds as a vintage piece. Thanks, Susan.
