Default Where is he? (The Angel on the bench - A True Story)

This past Saturday, several of the local high schools had their prom. Camera in tow I sat out for a night on the town to snap images and make my mark. What I ended up finding and shooting was far more interesting, and terribly sad.

A prom was going on in one of the downtown buildings. I was on the roof of the parking garage next door taking street shots of the limos and the kids walking in dressed in their best. I went down to street level and began to mingle with the crowd just snapping images. Then I noticed her. A lone soul, an angel, sitting on the bench.

For two hours the party goers came and went, but she never moved. She sat intently, checking her phone and looking up and down the street, waiting for him. She would look across the street and watch the other kids go in and out with their dates. Arriving in limo's and cars. Being ushered out onto the sidewalks to have their picture taken. But her posture and her face never changed. She never stopped waiting.

By midnight the party had died out and all but a few prom goers were still there. But she was still there, across the street, on the bench, waiting for him. I snapped this final image before I left and I think that I was able to capture the moment rather well.

My wonderful girlfriend and I talked for a moment about picking her up and taking her out to eat and at least giving her some memory, other than what I am sure will be one of her saddest. But we opted not to. I kind of regret that after getting home and editing the image. It makes me sad. I call the image "Where Is He", but looking back I should have went with my original idea of "Angle On A Bench"

All dressed up and no where to go. That is just beyond sad and the guy who did this to her is beyond low! That is so cruel to crush someone like that. What does not kill us, only makes us stronger. I hope this only helps to make her a strong independent woman that can hold her head high no matter what comes her way!
Sad story and great picture to go with it!
