Default What remains of the past.

I have never really been sure what this was used for back in it's days of glory but yesterday I decided to take a picture of it. My thoughts are that it was used in moving things across the river below.

Welcome Travis.
Very interesting capture. The sky is a bit bright, but the composition is good.

Thank you for the honest comment and the welcome.

I have decided to include a PP'd color crop of the image as well.

Looks like part of a chair lift (bucket carrier? ) Is there a mine near by? Looking at the construction to me it looks about 40 years old or there abouts.

The B&W shot has much more impact for me.

Southern Saskatchewan is a whole lot of prairie farmland, Saskatoon was build on the River which cant really be seen at all in this photo but the river lies right below this device. A lift or bucket line might make sense seeing as there is a weir built nearby that regulates the current of the river and they would have mad to move a lot of material. I might go research it now that I have some free time on my hands.

Thanks for the comment and fueling what might be an all niter to learn more about my hometown.

Please send me a private message on the results of your research youv'e got me interested.

Where's the other end? Looks as if the end youv'e pictured had some sought of an engine that the owner took away.

Saskatchewan eh ? Gold rush territory and all that.
Hey!! There might be gold in the river sand.

BTW You should get good, nay amazing, pictures of the northern lights (Aurora Borealis).

I hail from South Australia.

Jeremy.
