Default Pre game nerves

I tried to capture the yellow fence guard to kind of use as an arrow to lead the eye to the young boy who was kicking his feet back and forth.

For me, the yellow guard dominates the photo. The tree at the top of the frame is distracting.. This just feels too busy for my taste.

think its a great shot, the yellow leads my eye to the subject, i dont even notice the tree until after looking all around the photo, great job.

just a thought, but what if you had used a more limited DOF, say f 2.8 or bigger if available, and focussed on the player, might that have better used the yellow to lead the eye to the subject? Would that eliminate some of the distractions in the shot?
Composition looked good to me.

Firstly jason, welcome to our friendly little family here at DPS. You did exactly what you set out to do with the handrail. And yes, he does look a little nervous with the twitchy feet. I am sure that he came good though when the game got under way. Nice colours in this image too Jason. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Enjoy your time here at DPS and have fun. I do...
