Default OMG!!! - Robot Giraffes!!!

10 minutes from my house, is the beautiful La Perouse. A small suburb on the northern side of Botany Bay (in Sydney). It's mostly national park, and has some spectacular rocks and bush settings for photography, as well as the wonderfully photogenic 'Bear Island' which was the secret underground fort used in Mission Impossible 2.

A little further around the bay is Sydney's main container port. It makes for some interesting subjects.

This is one of 'The Giraffes'.

The Giraffes

These massive gantry machines are used to pick up shipping containers and move them around. The driver sits right up in 'the head'.

At night, the whole container port is lit, as it operates round the clock.

Just beyond the container port is Sydney Airport which provides a constant glow in the background.

This is a 3 shot HDR, though very mild, remixed with the base photo for sharpness.

Enjoy.
Brett

Hello Brett, this is a very interesting photo, almost surreal, the colours blend together nicely. I would love to see a night shot.
