Hello DPS .. raining steady for two days and I have not carried the camera in two days UGH ! .. regardless I would not miss my 1000th post without something ... so I submit a Canadian goose I shot the other day,
![]() pretty much sooc except for a little cropage .. I've come a long way from post #1 .. I've learned so much and I've always tried to show progress as I go feeling compelled to share the fact that if you stick with it, it will come to you ... So I'd like to end my 1000th post with one of the very best lessons I have learned from all my friends at DPS .. take what's given, the shot taken is better then passing it up, have confidence in your ability and you will get good photos, but you have to take them ! This is what I belive is an Hawk, though much bigger then a Marsh hawk, notice the spread feathers on the wingtips, it may be an eagle, I can not ID it yet .. I could bearly see it flying it was so high and so far away, but off came the lense cap and I took a few shots anyway.. ![]() I would much rather have this in my collection then passing on it the point is " take the shot " ... one of many important lessons learned right here thanks to all of you, wish I had a "blow your socks off " set for my 1000th .. but Like I said, had to post what was given Vin

Happy 1000th, and may I say you've not had one post that wasn't well thought out and truly meant something. Vin, you've become such an icon here at DPS and you know I always look forward to your photos, and continuing our friendship.
Two lovely photos to celebrate your milestone: the goose is spot on perfect focus, all detail is perfect! And I love the 2nd photo - a wonderful study of negative space and minimalism. Both are up to the usual Vin standards!

First off....a big congrats on your 1000th post. It is obvious that you are highly respected among the dps family and deservedly so. Your comments are generally thoughtful, detailed, and sometimes with a mild "analysis" too. I agree with you...every shot is educational.....lighting, composition, whatever. I wonder what a day of purposefully taking bad photographs would do? It would certainly reveal how far we have come. again congratulations to you!

Wow! 1000 already! Hard to believe, it all goes by so fast. You've only been here a month longer then me. Congrats my friend!
I love your goose. He is looking right at me. Great focus and I love the little bit of open space in front of him to swim into. I think you are right about the second one. Looks like a hawk to me. As Susan said everyone of your posts is fully thought out and insightful. I always look forward to what you have to offer as far as your threads and your kind posts. I also look forward to continuing our friendship here on DPS.
