Default new lens

I just bought a new lens this past Saturday I was looking for a telephoto with a focal length up to 300mm, so I went with the manufactured lens for my camera 75-300 f4/5.6. I wasn't sure what to expect I've heard mixed reviews about it, so I opted to buy it and try it
Thoughts and opinions are quite welcome, definitely will help me in my decision to keep or return the lens.

I would would venture to guess that if you have to ask, you probably are not too thrilled with it. Many who get new lenses know from the first shots that they have got a keeper.....mostly because of better clarity and sharpness. What are you after? Most long lens are not particularly known for their sharpness or clarity. Even with all my flower shots, I know that the sharpness is not all the way there. Kit lenses just don't have it in them. So I make do with what I have.

Only you can decide if the lens is good enough for your needs. Here is a great site to help you make some educated decisions, before you buy. Their reviews have been spot on, from my experience. http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/index.php Hope this helps.

I just looked up that lens and they say it is sharpest at 75-100mm at f/8 to f/11 . Past 100mm it starts to get soft and under f/8, it is soft. Click on the blur index graph and change the aperatures and focal lengths and you will see how the lens preforms. The flatter the graph and the lower it is , the sharper the lens will preform. Good luck in your decision.
