Default Painted Lady

Butterflies, that is. I hope you were not hoping for something else. Today I went out shooting with my Mom again. We went to the Mariposa Butterfly Festival. Mariposa is a charming little town in the foothills of California on the way to Yosemite National Park. The towns name of Mariposa actually means "Butterfly" so every year they have a Butterfly Festival. This is the first time we have ever gone and it was small but very charming. Might have to go again next year.

They are lovely, but that third one is really fantastic! It's the way the little girls and background are so soft in colour and the butterfly and fruit so sharp and vivid, and the two different diagonal elements (her body, the gate)... I really have very little skill with photography, but I know this is something I would definitely choose to paint

Beautiful captures Michelle. I think he tried to camaflage himself on that orange. But he didn't escape your eye. lol. You got some amazing detail and the ones with your daughters (are they?) are just excellent. You did some fantastic work here Michelle.

Michelle, you never fail to disappoint, and your butterfly from the group Nymphalids, is a fantastic example. Beautifully captured and presented, this little fella certainly seemed to be enjoying the orange slice

Wonderfully done. I really love the looks on the girl's faces. DoF & clarity/saturation is perfect on the macros too. TNX for sharing these.

Great looking shots, I really like the first two. Close ups are my achilles heel, I can't get enough of them. Great work

Beautiful pictures my dear, I thought they were going to be awesome. And of course the girls look
darling watching those butterflies. Hopefully next year the weather will be better for the butterflies.
Great shots, all of them, but I think I am a bit partial to #3 & 4 !!! Proud of you, Mom
