Patrick Once again great shots. the first one needs to be tighter I think, but other then that I love em. What is the orange you are using? It isn't the normal color you'd choose for a background but it really does work for you! Thanks for sharing, and of course the mini wild colorful daisys are the best in my opinion! Ri

Hi Rian,
Well, I really ought to take a picture of that background.....It is simply a painted safety walkway to an emergency fire exit. It is about 8 feet wide by 200 feet long. It is "safety yellow" but is dirty from a year's worth of ground in dirt etc lending itself to a more orangish cast. The color is similar to the color of the yellow lines painted on the highways. We have pallets of roses lined up to this safety walk and I was shooting downward and had this background. I did notice the unusual color and tried to use it as a contrast medium. The shallow depth of field obviously takes all the nasty details of teh walkway out of the picture...this isi one of teh huge advantages of having a dslr over a point and shoot. My P&S would have rendered the flower similarly but would have also had the sidewalk in full detail.

nothing humble about these four little crackers, and the second and fourth really bounce out of the frame, with their vibrant colours. These are great pictures and can't help but make you smile

Your flower shots are amazing. I absolutely love the second one ! We have some of those and I just can't get them to come out anywhere near as nice as that
