Default my mentor and our shared session.....

i have had the extraordinary experience of being mentored by an seasoned, working photographer....mon has been holding my hand for some time now.....advising me through a variety of portrait sessions and my first big gig, a wedding.....

recently, mon asked me to play second shooter at a wedding he contracted.....the experience was like no other as i learned for every minute of the four hours this event lasted.....our first step was to synch up our cameras for a seamless transition between my images and his when he presents to his client.....time stamps, white balance, and flashes.....he chose a cloudy in camera white balance for a warmer cast to the portraiture which i found to be quite interesting......

while the real portrait work was left to his nikon, he did allow me a few minutes to shoot the same scenes to build my portfolio.....i did most of the set up shots which he will use in the final cuts.....

a note of thanks to my mentor, mon......i appreciate the time, energy and expertise you have so graciously given to me...

What a nice opportunity and there isn't anyone more deserving. Have fun as you continue. If this work is any indication of what is to come, you are well on the way to being an outstanding wedding photographer.

thanks for your comments, everyone.....

i work with the public and mon is one of my clients.....since we've always talked shop, it was natural that he took an interest when i began shooting portraits at christmas time for extra money.....and he really began being more than helpful when i prepared to shoot a wedding last month......i found his instruction invaluable and he in turn was intrigued by my editing techniques.....he thought that collaberating on this wedding would be of use to both of us......

Sounds like so much fun! I have wished to do something like that as well but for my lil town, I get to be "it" and i am no where near to be as good as so many images I see on the interent.
You my friend, have grown leaps and bounds from when we first met. Will you still remember me when you are famous?
