Cool half century old portrait

This is a photo of my pops right before he turned 50 in march this year. This is one of the first times i used diffused light for a portrait. The diffuser is actually a huge window from a charter bus. Now everywhere i go i carry around a big sheet of Plexiglas. Haha jp, but i think that would actually be cool now that i think about it.

hope you enjoy

enlightened by the lighting

Thanks Ryan, when you diffuse light, your basically making it less harsh by passing it through something like glass or some sort of cloth material which scatters the lights direction. It's hard for me to explain, sorry. If anyone can help out?

I don't usually comment on portraits but, I just had to on this one. I really do think this is great. It's out of the ordinary face on shots, the lighting is just perfect IMHO. Maybe I can get one of my kids to take a picture of me like this... Thanks for sharing this.

I agree. The different perspective and soft lighting really make this a great portrait.

I sure hope so. I have a daughter that is graduating with an art degree this month. I gave her my old Pentax K1000. Hopefully she'll lear to love it as much as I do. Thanks again for sharing the picture of your Dad. Great shot...
