Default The Birds!

Grabbed these guys on a recent abseiling and bushwalking trip.

Currawong at the Ruined Castle, Blue Mountains.

currawong_flying_ruinedcastle

They were very inquisitive, almost to the point of being scary.

They would hop around on the rocks within half a metre of us, looking for and food that we may have dropped. Even climbing up on rocks behind us, and peering over our shoulders.

We threw some small pieces of bread into the air, and they all took flight to try and catch it. Amazingly aerobatic bird displays.

Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Deb, im a bit the same. I really like all the closeup shots of the birds, with their bright yellow eyes and huge scary beak.... but i also really like their in flight shots..

Wow! So hard to get feather detail on black birds...! I really like how you captured the aerobatics in the second shot.

Teedlepeep,
The 'thing falling' is a small piece of my sandwich!

I must have thrown at least half of my lunch into the air to feed the birds, while holding down the shutter button on a fast burst mode. It all happens in a few seconds, so most of the shots were of empty sky

inkista,
Its easy to get feather detail when the bird is only 2 feet away from you
I was lucky to be there on the day.

Also, camera settings were:
Nikon D90
18-55mm lens
f8 @ 1/200sec.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, much appreciated.
