Default Thank you, Arvak and Alsvid

In Germanic mythology the Sun is female and the Moon is male. . . In the Norse traditions, every day, Sól rode through the sky on her chariot, pulled by two horses named Arvak and Alsvid. - Wikipedia. We've had some wonderful Sun lately. Giddyup

If I had followed my bliss and kept painting, these are some of what I'd have been trying to reproduce:

TrilliumWhite

DroopingYellow

ComeHither2

In drawing and painting, it's often suggested that we begin with an egg as a subject, making as many studies of it as our imagination and viewpoint can find. I think the dandelion is a grand subject for photographers to practice with, finding as many different ways of looking at the much-maligned weed/wildflower as possible. That's why there are so many in my collection. My sister believes they are the Devil's own creation; I disagree.

Jiminy. You bring us all a birthday treat. The detail which you have captured in this set is awesome. The colour and composition just so pleasing to the eye. I agree the dandelion too. They are only a weed but they have a lot of detail and are great to practice on. I have many different ones. I hope you have a wonderful day today Jiminy and thank you for sharing this lovely work with us all.

Jake

That is an inspiring thought and some really great images to go along with it. I guess I'll have to go out in the yard and find some dandelions to observe and capture in as many ways as I can. Thanks for sharing.

jakethepig, Have some cake today!

Thanks for the encouraging words, and it really is rewarding that you see these as gifts - that's how they feel when I download and see them for the first time. Images Nature requires one to diligently search for, gifts I have to work for.

ethanaung, Welcome, and have some cake today!

Thanks for kind words, and I'm glad you enjoy the photos. Simple subjects, simple camera, simple mind - it all ties together! I see, I shoot, I show - life is good.

Fred flyfisher, Have some cake today!

Thank you for looking in. It can be anything you like (for instance - Shoot . . .). It's mostly about time and patience, which allows you to move around, change the background, angle of Sun, distance. Hope you find your backyard rich in wonders too!

Jiminy, I positively love the lighting and composition in the first one...well all of them really, but the first one strikes a chord with me, so no matter whether you painted it or captured it, you've still attained artistry and stirred emotion within the viewer. Thanks for sharing and now I know sometime later today, I've got to go out, get on the ground, and get my clothes dirty!

So the birthday boy gives us the presents! Lovely flowers. After a long winter, I can't get enough of them.

I love this as a preface to the photos. I always find things about old gods / goddesses things so interesting.

You know it's never too late to do what makes you happy... though seeing the beautiful details you capture in your nature macros does make many other people happy

Very nice shots indeed.
