Default Triathlon Pics

I was able to go to part of a triathlon on Sunday. Here are some of the shots.

This one was taken about 10 minutes before the pros started their swim, at about 6:45 a.m.

St. Anthony's Triathlon 2009 (9)

If my info is correct, this gentleman is 66 years old. Good for him!

St. Anthony's Triathlon 2009 (3)

These 3 guys all seemed to be workig pretty hard.

St. Anthony's Triathlon 2009 (1)

One more:

St. Anthony's Triathlon 2009 (2)

Thanks for looking.

The second one is the best. Excellent panning with the subject remaining in sharp focus. If u could increase the shutter speed a little more to get the spokes on the wheel freeze, it would have been perfect. Probably, may not be possible, because then u have to compromise on your exposure. Otherwise, All the images are just fine and crisp.

nice series Chip .. I can see by the shadows in the first yiou were facing the sun or close to it .. you mamaged to get excellent color tones and clarity in some tough conditions and it was early too !!

Outstanding panning in the 2nd .. the rider is on perfect focus WOW !
I'm 46 and riding a bike you petal hurts my butt !! .. good for that guy !

The 3rd shows just how intense the event is .. those guys are hardcore , just lookat all the tatoos all over them ( just kidding, I know it's race info written on them lol ) ... great event, great photos .. well done !

Thanks, rajeshbalan83. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm good enough to get the spokes on the wheels to freeze while still having a panning-type shot. I do have a couple with a shutter at 1/400th, and the exposure is fine, but the spokes aren't quite frozen and the background isn't blurred as much as I'd like. Maybe it's just me, but I like a bit of blur in shots like this.

Vin - for that 1st one, you're quite right. I was shooting due east, but the sun was just barely up. My first 2 shots were way over exposed - the one I posted was my 3rd one. I'm glad those 2 kept talking. Thanks for the nice words - I appreciate them.

Thanks, FoG. The guy in the 2nd shot was up out of the saddle and working hard. I was impressed.

Well done, Chip! Those are great action shots and I've enjoyed them very much. The third is my favorite - I can feel the intensity!

Mike - Thank you. I've never sat in one place at one of these before for any extended period. What I found interesting was the incredibly wide variety of athetes in the race: young, old, big, small, skinny, not so skinny, some people taking it easy and some - like these guys - working hard.

i love #2 and #4, the motion in the second really adds to the shot, while the fourth is sharp and captures the detail, well done
