Default Osprey Take 3

Well, you knew it was comming, yet another Vin project " the Osprey " ..beautiful Warm Sunday today, slight wind, awesome conditions and an awesome relaxing photo shoot

First up, the first nest I visit, this time my feathered friend was way the heck up in the tallest dang tree around.. this time I have a bit more reach and some quality glass to bring him in , not much I could do about how far he was, but the f4-70-200m w/ the 2x converter finally got used for what it was purchased for.

IMG_2941
Taken at 1pm bright sunshine, cloudless sky..an improvement over the last attempts

Next up, the other nest, this time I was able to get quite a bit closer, when I got there he was letting the whole park know he was hungry and wanted his mate to return so he could go fishing ( thier call is extremly loud ) This is NOT the same bird as the first, though the pose looks the same lol !

Again bright noonday sun, softened a bit ( never thought I'd have to soften a photo lol ) this Aurborium is only open from 8am to 5pm, so if I want golden light I'm gonna need to wait till fall !

OK !.. here it is .. the reward of over 200 photos, I was finally able to capture an image I am satisfied with, the problem now is, I'm going to have to try and top it !!

Satisfaction
I invite you to view the large version on flickr, doesn't need any explanation
I can now print a photo of an osprey for my wall !!!

I have one last photo for today, I took Bandit back to the Park, this time he was very well behaved and he loved checking out the swans and ducks... I enjoyed mixing his Shiney black coat with the white of the swans.. talk about contrasts ... anyway, no deep mud this time, just one of those " fun " photos I thought I'd use to fill the 4th space.

Bandit&Swans

Hope you all had a great weekend and got some good shots !! Thanks for following the Osprey project along and I hope those of you who have watched the progression share a little of my feeling of success for pushing me along ,

Vin

Thanks for Viewing

That is a serious beak on that bird. Beautifully taken photos. As said - you are so lucky to have such an amazing bird to photograph.

The culmination of many months work and what a quality series to greet the viewer. The first two show the osprey in all his finary including the obligatory sheepkin waistcoat. Although the bird was massively high in the trees, you have manitained great compostion with both pictures, not easy at that distance.

The final picture with Bandit waiting for permission to jump into the lake and scare the devil out of half a dozen swans, is fun.

But the creme de la creme and the piece de resistance is number three. This should be viewed large size, especially if you enjoy counting feathers one by one. Its a stunning picture, fantastic detail, great focus and DoF and one that should be printed, framed and hung on the wall. You might also consider signing it, it's excellent work Vin

Wow Vin, you really got up close and personal with the Osprey. All your hard work paid off the third one is truly stunning. I have to agree with Beach, best viewed large. I am so pleased that you have captured these excellent photographs. Your work is always a pleasure to see Vin and give Bandit a little stroke and a pat from me.

Jake.

I am speechless so will simply second what everyone else has already said! Vin I love your projects, your dedication, enthusiasm and drive to see each one through to perfection blows me away. WOW WOW WOW is all I can say. You nailed this one big time my friend. Get a watermark or at least copyright on those, especially number 3 as soon as possible. I want a signed print! Mre than that though, can I sign up for lessons?

How you manage to capture bandit and the white swans together is the mark of a master. And that look that says, "now daddy? Please please let me att'em!"

Well done my friend.
