Default PORTUGAL (2) -From Sun to Snow

I left my busy neighbours one morning, to drive an hour North, into the 'Serra Da Estrela' Nature Park. I was going to spend three days in a small hotel at Manteigas, 2000 metres up. A small hotel with a BIG reputation; I wasn't disappointed!

I drove, in sunshine, down into Piódão-the oldest inhabited village in Portugal (another set from there later).

Road to Piodao

Coffee and a hundred photos later,I drove onwards to the park where the temperature had gone from 13 degrees to -2!

Sun and snow

I saw low cloud, balancing on peaks......................

Cloud cleft

Up and up to the hotel, to find 'snow loungers' on my room terrace-nice!

Hi F.Telford-thank you for the nice feedback. I am absolutely obsessed with Piódão-I spend ages there whenever I go!
I hope you do get to explore Portugal-for me it is a very special place.

Thanks, moi, for showing us all Portugal. You are the best guide I have ever had.
Perhaps the Portuguese goverment should consider hiring you as public relations to promote the country...

If there's every one country I'd go back to retire in would be Portugal. Go to my photoshelter page to see the Azores photos. http://pa.photoshelter.com/c/jimbryant
