Post In my dream

in my dream

I have been working on this type of picture which is dreamy and mystery...I know I still have lots to do, but this is a first stepping stone. I think what I need is to shoot in a really dark area when the sun is 80% down and use a super long exposure (like 30 seconds). I wonder if anyone here has tried this before. Any comments/thoughts are more than welcome.

Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Exposure: 15
Aperture: f/18.0
Focal Length: 10 mm
Exposure: +0.80
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: +2 EV
Flash: Off

The water almost looks as if it is frozen with trapped air bubbles

Love the silky look to the water, and the B+W treatment really works.

What you could look at is something like a ND Grad filter to "knock out" some of the sky.

http://www.cokin.com/ are the de facto filter system

and http://www.great-landscape-photograp...d-filters.html gives a pretty good primer on the subject.

I have another version which I used the gradient tool to darken the sky a little...I still can't decide which one I like more at this point. :-)

Sopons,
Another great shot! I was in Moses Lake the other day and my father in law had your picture from the Times pullout. He thought it was a great shot, and I was like, "hey! I so know him!" You are quickly become the king of Seattle!
