Post B&W never dies.

Richmond Park Seattle-2

I was out taking pictures yesterday at Richmond Beach Park in Seattle. It was my first time there, and it would not be my last. It's one of the best place for sunset in Seattle, and I don't know why I'd never heard of this place before. Anyway, I got many great landscape/sunset pictures in color, but what I really wanted was the B&W picture.

I worked on this last night, and I really like it, because it didn't make me tired/tense/excited when I look at it, but it just keeps me calm and I want to look at the details of the picture. Color is a great thing, but sometimes....it distracts you from seeing something underneath.

indeed, b&w emphasizes texture, composition, and many other aspects that are a bit blurred when in colour.
I like your shot very very much. It's great work. Thanks for sharing.

I like the way the detail i vivid in the foreground and slowly disappears into the distance.

Great capture.

Truer words have never been said!!! I love black and white. It enhances and gives details to composition. These days, i convert almost all my work into B&W!!!

B&W Forever, baby!!!

BTW, nice composition!

Really enjoy the picture. B&W can sure add a level of interest to a picture. We vacationed around the San Juan Islands and Western Washington last September and just fell in love with the area. Between the wife and I we took over 800 pictures. We still talk about what a beautiful area it is.

Thanks for looking. I think texture is something BW can really bring it out.

I convert my work to BW most of the time to compare with the color ones. Most of the time, BW wins.

You should really come back and visit Seattle again. It's getting better now, and more sunshine in Spring too. Next time, 800 pictures are the minimum. :-)

i competely agree with you on the choice to convert it. without seeing the original color photo, i obviously cannot champion a favorite, but in B&W i can really appreciate the great high contrast, amazing texture and details in the rocks. i especially like that the furthest rock is a simple silhouette-it leads your eyes to the horizon and then back again. great photo!
